INDEPENDENT LIBRARIAN HAS BEEN DETAINED

Thanks to the pinko pastors and their international supporters, Alibris book's donate a book campaign is hosting "A wish list for Granma."  You won't find the link on the pinko pastors website; no doubt they don't want the US Department of Treasury Department to know they are soliciting for fidel.  You have to ask, if Cubans need books, why is the Cuban government arresting Independent Librarians for loaning books?

"In Cuba there are no prohibited books there just isn't any money to buy them”  - fidel castro

That's a lie, fidel has hundreds a millions stashed away, millions that rightfully belong to the Cuban people.

Gustavo Colas Castillo, the Director of the Independent Library Leopoldo Pita, in Amancio, Las Tunas has been detained since this past Saturday, May 5th. In a telephone conversation, Leonor Castillo, who is in Cuba and the mother of the librarian, confirmed that a relative had received a call from the police informing about his detention without disclosing the specific place where he was being held.

It was known that the activist was traveling to several provinces of the eastern of Cuba in the attempt to meet with other members of the Independent Libraries Project in Cuba with the purpose to consolidate this cultural initiative that arose in March, 1998 in Las Tunas. The initiative took place after the Cuban leader Fidel Castro stated that “in Cuba there are no prohibited books there just isn't any money to buy them”

Colas Castillo is also the Deputy Director of Independent Libraries of Cuba and centers his work in the Eastern part of the island. The relatives and the Independent Librarians in Cuba make the Cuban authorities responsible for the fate of Gustavo Colas who has devoted himself only to the promotion of reading without censorship in Cuba.

DETENIDO BIBLIOTECARIO INDEPENDIENTE

NOTA DE PRENSA

PARA DIVULGACIÓN INMEDIATA

7 de Mayo, 2007

CONTACTO: Berta Mexidor 601-979-8651

    About This Blog

    • The purpose of this blog is to use my small voice to denounce and combat the repressive regime of the castro brothers and their henchmen. To that purpose, I will not publish or endorse views that are destructive or divisive to anti-castro individuals or groups either on the Island or in exile whether I agree with them or not. I believe that the only way to bring down the tyrant is with a united opposition. That said, all comments are welcome and will not be deleted or edited in any way unless they support the castro regime, his allies, or I deem them anti-American, hateful or inappropriate.
