Todd Jurkowski of nbc-2 , interviewed some Cubans for a pro-castro article, ostensibly its about Parke Wright and his plan to provide beef to Cubans. What is really about is yet another propaganda puff piece about criticizing the embargo, while completely ignoring the fact that it is the brutal castro regime that is responsible for the plight of Cubans.
Excerpts:
Wright's goal is to improve the Cuban herds to make high-quality beef and dairy available to everyone.
"now putting our best ranchers with cuban's best ranchers, this is about putting food on the table. I don't mean just for the tourists that come here, "Wright said.
The embargo prevents the free flow of U.S. dollars to Cuba.
Senator Mel Martinez, who fled the country as a teenager, supports the embargo – which in part aims to force democratic reform on the island.
"It is to deny the resources to the Cuban government that it would otherwise use to repress its own people," Martinez said.
Cubans NBC-2 talked to say they feel repressed by the embargo, not dictator Fidel Castro. Under the socialist system, they get free health care and can study to be a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, anything, and pay nothing for that education. But they believe they do pay more for things because of the restrictions.
What about the dissenters rotting in Cuba's gulags Mr. Jurkowski, did you try to interview them, or question their imprisonment? castro's security snitches are in every neighborhood, no one speaks freely, so what do you expect them to say? Try asking a Cuban who got out and is free to speak what they think of their former leader.
NBC2 spoke to a Cuban man waiting for a bus. He said the embargo hurts the people, not the government. He said they have to buy things from other countries much further away, so the prices go up.
The lack of products also costs Cubans time. For example, public buses often break down with no replacement parts to fix them.
The buses normally run a half hour or an hour behind schedule.
As he waited, we asked what one U.S. product he'd like to be able to buy.
His answer: a computer.
They're not for sale in stores – not that many Cubans could afford them anyway. The minimum wage for workers is 220 Cuban pesos, about $10 a month. Why is it they are not for sale in stores Mr. Pimp for fidel reporter? It's because Cubans are not allowed to own computers. They also are not permitted internet access beyond state controlled sites, not permitted to read materials not on the State approved list, not permitted to freely travel, not permitted to own private property, not permitted free enterprise.
"I don't see the distance between us. I see the opportunity to be friends," Wright said, despite the fact that the Cuban government seized his family's property after the revolution in 1959. This man is a vile traitor, the worst there is, profiting from the suffering of his own. And this is reported without comment? I wouldn't use this article for toilet paper.
Dagoberto Rodriguez is the chief of the Cuban Interests Section in Washington, D.C. – the closest thing Cuba has to an ambassador in this country.
He, like every Cuban NBC2 talked to, wants the embargo to end but does not want change forced on them to make it happen.
"We respect the American sovereignty. The American government has to respect our right to be what we are," Rodriguez said.
No, we don't Mr. Rodriguez, your government confiscated billions of dollars worth of our property without compensation. How is that respecting our sovereignty? Your government has murdered, imprisoned, forced into exile and oppressed its citizens for 47 years. How can the U.S. Government, a legitimate democracy have any respect for castro and his thugs?
Read the whole story here at nbc-2.
Since Dagoberto Rodriguez "respects American sovereignty," then he must respect the right of the American nation to refuse to deal with kaSStro, except on America's own terms. Period.
As for mistah Wright's wrong ways, I suppose he has the sovereign right to be a fidel-pimp if he so chooses-no doubt, it is all about "the benjamins." Mr. Jurkowski is obviously a graduate of the Jason Blair School of MSM-Pseudojournalism.
