I've been sitting here for too long, trying to decide what to write about. I've scanned several news feeds, and all of my favorite websites and blogs. I read a lot that I really liked and I started to post on several of them. Instead I hit delete, my heart just wasn't into any of those stories.
I'm still angry about the hunger strike. I'm angry that a man had to put his life on the line to remind a President of promises not kept. I'm angry about the wet foot dry foot policy. Not just the 15 refugees recently sent back, tragic as that incident is, they are only the latest victims of this un-American policy. I'm still angry at Clinton for making a deal with a dictator who honors no agreements. I'm still angry at Clinton for deciding that Cubans are an expendable commodity, just like castro. And, I'm angry at President Bush for betraying us - the American voters who believed that he is a man of honor.
Why hasn't he rescinded this disgraceful inhumane policy? Conflicting political interests? The hot potato issue of immigration? Let's look at that. Conservatively, there are between 9-12 million illegal immigrants in the United States. How many of those are Cuban? If our government is concerned about illegal immigration, the South Coast of Florida is not the border they should be worried about.
Why is the coast guard diligently on the look out for Balseros? Is it because it's a lot easier than trying to patrol the approximately 5,500 miles of the US Canadian border or the 1,900 miles of the US Mexican border? Are Cuban refugees the scapegoats for a failed immigration policy? I don't know, but I wonder.
When that meeting takes place to 'discuss' the wet foot dry foot policy, here is one question I'd like answered. Mr. President why did you lie to us?
sanchez is a great man,but the people behind him they need to be more imperative,I feel your pain Ziva,I have been feeling depresed lately and on top of that we get treated worse than dogs.
