One city, one demonstration at a time, we can fight. If there is anyone reading from the DC area, have you heard anything about a counter demonstration? The ANSWER sponsored group, "No War on Cuba Movement", is sending out an "emergency" letter to inform and invite their useful idiots and members to a march in solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela to demand that the White House and Congress --"Keep their hands off Venezuela and Cuba"
They want to:
* Stop us intervention and hostile campaigns against Venezuela; Defend Venezuela's sovereignty
* Stop Washington's economic and political war against Cuba; End the blockade of Cuba
* Allow U.S. citizens and legal residents to travel freely to Cuba; Normalize U.S.-Cuban relations
* Extradite the terrorist Luis Posada Carilles to Venezuela; Free the Cuban Five anti-terrorist prisoners; Close the Guantanamo Torture Camp; Return Guantanamo to Cuba.
* Stop U.S. military intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean
They say US attacks on Venezuela and Cuba are the leading wedge in an attempt to counter the mounting popular struggles in Latin America and the Caribbean against US backed social and economic policies that have devastated the people.
Do you believe this shit? Once again, it's all the fault of the US, not the dictators incompetent and power happy policies.
Never mind that castro turned a beautiful first rate country into a third world repressive hell hole in spite of massive subsidies from the Soviets, never mind that chavez is squandering billions of dollars of oil profits, an industry his mismanagement is rapidly flushing down the toilet.
Never mind the executions, the lack of human rights, etc. etc. etc. Never mind that these murderous bottom feeding cockroaches both deserve to drown in excrement filled sewers for crimes against humanity.
These communist loving idiots, marching in the streets of America in support of those tyrants, with their self-righteous disdain for the suffering of the victims, I hope God has a special hell for them.
Read the whole letter here.
I live in the Washington DC area, but, unfortunately, I plan to be out of town, in Miami, so I can attend CubaNostalgia on the day of this march.
I will try to make arrangements to have a fellow photographer get some images of these Fellow Travellers for the record.

I live about an hour west of DC - Like Julio, I'll also be in Miami for the CubaNostalgia event. I did check out the website and it just turned my stomach. che t-shirts for sale, communist propaganda, etc. I will give them a call and ask if they will also be marching for the freedom of independent journalists that are jailed in Cuba without a trial. Also ask them to march to have kagastro allow all Cubans to use the internet, stay at hotels, have cells phone, travel freely, etc.

As sincere and well-meaning as the old "Fair Play for Cuba Committee" butt-holes. If they are so sure their stand is right and moral, why don't they come march in Miami?
Why not a database of their membership and supporters, for potential future extradition to be tried in a free Cuba, as accessories to a genocidal regime? No more outrageous than some of the things these types support, and turnabout is fair play, no?
